OM Parvath

'Om', 'Ohm' or 'Aum' is a sacred sound that is known generally as the sound of the universe. OM is a sacred sound and a spiritual symbol. Om is all encompassing, the essence of ultimate reality, and unifies everything in the universe. The sound/symbol OM originated in/with the Vedas. Veda means knowledge, both spiritual and material, which was imparted by God unto the very first created being named Brahma. Infused with the Vedic knowledge, Brahma was able to create (engineer) this universe. Hindus believe the mantra “OM” is the name of God, the vibration of the Supreme. It is sometimes chanted as three sounds, a-u-m, symbolic of the three major Hindu deities: Bhrahma Shakti (creation), Vishnu Shakti (preservation) and Shiva Shakti (liberation, and/or destruction). Yogis often meditate on the four "measures," or parts, of om. Though commonly spelled om, the mantra actually consists of three letters, a,u, and m. (In Sanskrit, whenever an initial a is followed by a u, they coalesce into a long o sound.)
